OLYMP signs ex-VfB star Kevin Kurányi for new polo shirt season

Reigning German fashion supplier and former professional footballer in the same jersey

OLYMP Bezner KG isn’t just known for high-quality business fashion. The clothing brand from Bietigheim-Bissingen (Ludwigsburg district, Baden-Württemberg, Germany) has also made an international name for itself with its modern casual collections. This includes the polo shirt – one of the absolute basics of a man’s wardrobe. OLYMP has brought former professional footballer Kevin Kurányi onto its team as a testimonial for a limited edition, fan polo shirt.

Heiko Ihben, OLYMP’s Director for Brand and Product, says: “The polo shirt is one of the most versatile items of clothing. Whether in the office or at leisure, for business or private appointments, with suit trousers, jeans or as a stylish alternative to swimming shorts – a polo shirt is suitable for every occasion. In addition to numerous variations in colours and details, our collection is characterised by our usual high quality and a contemporary fit. With our OLYMP fan polo shirts now available, we’re targeting everyone who wants to show their passion for sport and their enthusiasm for their team in style. Kevin Kurányi embodies this approach perfectly when you consider the upcoming major sporting event in our home country.”

In addition to its extensive range of polo shirts – and inspired by its passion for sport and style – the fashion brand OLYMP has developed a small capsule collection of limited edition fan polo shirts made from high-quality cotton and featuring subtle stripe details on their collar and sleeves. The limited-edition OLYMP fan polo shirts epitomise understated elegance and sporty team spirit in equal measure. A modern interpretation of the regular-fit cut ensures a comfortable yet stylish look that can be worn both in everyday life and for business.

The five sporty polo shirts are designed in the national colours of the sporting nations Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and France. The national colours can be found on the collar edges and cuffs. The three-digit country codes GER for Germany, ITA for Italy, ESP for Spain, NED for the Netherlands and FRA for France are knitted into the underside of the collar and only reveal which team has a special place in the heart of the polo-wearing sports fan when the collar is turned up – whether in a sporting context or not.

Kevin Kurányi, 42, is a former German footballer. The striker made the leap into professional football with VfB Stuttgart in 2001. He played a total of 275 times in the Bundesliga for VfB Stuttgart, FC Schalke 04 and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, scoring 111 goals. Kevin Kurányi has also played 52 international matches (19 goals) for the German senior national team and was runner-up in the European Championships with the DFB team in 2008.

OLYMP Bezner KG, from Bietigheim-Bissingen near Stuttgart, is the market leader for shirts in Germany. In addition, its high-quality clothing range – which includes business, casual and full-dress shirts, knitwear, sweatwear and accessories – is sold in over 40 countries worldwide. In the past financial year, OLYMP was able to increase its sales slightly compared to the previous year, despite the persistently difficult business environment. In 2023, it generated revenues of 229 million euros.
