OLYMP-Bezner-Stiftung: a further 92,000 euros for children and young people

The charitable idea of “helping people to help themselves” is producing many excellent outcomes

The OLYMP-Bezner-Stiftung, a charitable Foundation established in 2008 by the Bezner family with a personal endowment of one million euros, has acquitted itself extremely well in its commitment to charitable causes both at home and abroad in recent years. The Foundation’s aim is to support children and young people throughout the world in the areas of education, health care and training. In 2023, a further 92,000 euros in donations were used for charitable purposes for various projects in Germany, Brazil, Haiti, Indonesia, Myanmar, Sierra Leone and Ukraine.

Projects supported by the OLYMP-Bezner-Stiftung in 2023 include the “Pestalozzi Kinder- und Jugenddorf Wahlwies e. V.”. This non-profit organisation has been running Germany’s first and oldest Children’s Village in Wahlwies on Lake Constance since 1947. Here, around 150 children in need – who are no longer able to live with their biological parents due to experiences of violence or severe neglect – are able to find a safe place to stay. These children are often severely traumatised and thus need special protection. Here, in the Children’s Village family, they experience – often for the first time in their lives – human affection and security. These children are supported on an individual basis through a wide range of therapeutic and educational programmes to enable them to lead independent lives.

Also being supported is the “aufwind e. V. Bunter Kreis Ludwigsburg” at the Ludwigsburg Children’s Hospital. This is a charitable aid project that guides, supports and accompanies around 100 families in the Ludwigsburg district every year. The organisation’s primary aim is to give “Aufwind” (a boost) to families whose lives have been dramatically altered by a premature birth or a chronic or life-threatening illness of their child. To achieve this, inpatient conditions for parents and children staying at the Ludwigsburg Children’s Hospital are improved and a qualified after-care concept offered.

The “Eco Learning Camp” in Bandung, Indonesia, has also been assisted with a new donation. This camp teaches the people living there about a sustainable way of life, raises environmental awareness and, above all, also gives children from poorer sections of the population access to this sustainable educational programme.

The “SOS-Kinderdorf e. V.”, Munich, is an independent, non-governmental and non-denominational aid organisation that works globally on behalf of children. In cooperation with partner organisations, an emergency aid programme for children in care and families in the west of the country was initiated by the OLYMP-Bezner-Stiftung immediately after the start of the war in Ukraine, and the SOS Children’s Villages there were evacuated with their families to the neighbouring country of Poland. The donations, which continue to be urgently needed, will be used to evacuate more children and families, provide emergency shelters, medicines and hygiene items, and supply food as well as psychological and medical care.

The OLYMP-Bezner-Stiftung was established in 2008 by the family of Eberhard Bezner, Mark Bezner and Birgit Bezner-Fischer with a personal endowment of one million euros.
